The metamorfosis of a Cicada in 83 pictures

A special day.

Le Lavandou, Var, France, june 1 year 2000. In the early morning an ugly looking insect climbs up the stem of a flower. It settels, the skin opens and out comes a new nymfe. It takes a lot of time but we keep making pictures. The result is a super slideshow of 83 pictures. For hours and hours it has to stay where it is, helplessly. Till it decides to climb down and hide. The empty skin is then the only reminder of what happened. We love the Cicadas in the south of Europe. The main Russian cicadist Prof. Alexander Emelyanov thinks that it is the female of a Tibicen Plebejus (With particular thanks to Prof.Andrei Lobanov for this information)
